So I'm cheating a little bit because this is a website not a book, but if you haven't visited ARKive before, you can get lost in information on 15,000 endangered species as well as 100,000 photos and videos on plants, animals and fungi, giving reasons why we should care and protect them.
The website is easy to navigate and uses scientific standards of vocabulary as well as lingo understandable for primary aged children. Each topic also contains photos and any video footage available. The information also includes the latin names for species as well as kingdom, phylum, class, order, family and genus which is particularly useful for those out there studying Biological Sciences.
ARKive is a reputable non for profit, nonfiction website providing reliable, accurate information on our planet Earth. ARKive was listed in the top 25 websites for teaching and learning by the American Association of School Librarians in 2012 under content resource, so you know its good and a much better source of info than wikipedia any day!
